One of the projects we are working on is the "Scandinavian Online Kit for Nanoscale Modeling" (or VIKING for short), and we are happy to announce that the very first prototype is ready for internal testing!
VIKING is an intuitive and easy-to-use interface for a variety of different simulation tools, allowing everyone to run different types of simulations fast and easy. This first prototype allows the user to run Molecular Dynamics simulations by guiding the user through a few simple steps to setup the system - and of course all the advanced parameters are also available to experienced users.
At december 22nd we had long meeting dedicated to discussing the current status, as well as the future of VIKING. Most of the features for the MD simulation task required by our group has been implemented, and some of the next milestones are to implement a 3D Structure Editor (to view, build, or change molecular structures for the simulations) and some tools to analyze the simulation results.
